The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Tama County begins at 6 p.m. on Friday evening, June 12. This event will take place at the South Tama High School track, beginning with a Survivors’ Walk, honoring those who have survived a battle with cancer. This event is open to anyone interested in furthering the fight against cancer. The funds raised are used in research to find cures, education on how to reduce the risk of cancer, and support for those currently battling cancer. The Relay for Life will include a Silent Auction to help in raising funds. Items at the auction will include a specially designed item from Blacksmith Boutique, decorating items from Custom Creations, gift items from Imagine This/Special Tea Room and Sassy’s Boutique, in Dysart, and numerous other items. Bidding will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Children’s events and other fun activities will also be available during the Relay. Teams will walk the track and at dusk luminaries will light the track.
