The Redhawk nine beat conference rival Janesville on the road 13-6. The game was played Monday, June 7. The Redhawks continue to score in double figures with 12 hits and 8 walks in the contest. Cade Isenhower hit three singles in five at bats to drive in two runs while scoring two. Pete Kopriva collected two hits, two RBI’s and scored a run. Marshall Karr knocked in two Redhawks on a single. Tyler Cizek batted in two runs on a ground out and sacrifice fly. Brendon Boerm had the only Redhawk extra base hit with a double to the right center fence. Boerm improved his pitching record to 3-1, pitching six innings. Boerm allowed three runs on four hits, six walks and fanned nine. Colby Harms pitched the seventh inning allowing three unearned runs on two hits and a strike out. The Redhawks committed two errors in the ballgame. The win improves the North Tama record to 8-3 and 4-1 in the Iowa Star conference.

NT beats undefeated Dunkerton

The undefeated Red Raiders traveled to Traer on Wednesday, June 9. Dunkerton came into the ballgame with a 5-0 overall record and a share of the Iowa Star conference lead with Don Bosco. The Redhawks put an end to the Raiders winning streak ending the game in the fourth inning by the 15 run rule. The final score was 17-2. The Redhawks sent 16 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring seven runs. Dunkerton’ ace Corey Joens allowed 10 earned runs in three innings of work. North Tama crushed 14 hits in the contest and took advantage of six Dunkerton walks. Cade Isenhower continued his hot hitting with three hits, scoring four times and driving in three more. Isenhower currently has a team leading batting average of .526. Jeremy Wrage hit two singles and a double. Wrage batted in three runs and scored twice. Brendon Boerm hit two doubles scoring three times and knocked in a run. Tyler Cizek and Jon Koob each added two singles apiece. Cizek pitched all four innings to improve his pitching record to 3-1. Cizek gave up two runs, two hits, a walk and struck out five. The Redhawks improve to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play and now have a share for second place in the Iowa Star conference. The BCLUW, Clarksville and East Buchanan games were all rained out this past week. NT will play a double header against Clarksville July 2. BCLUW and East Buchanan did not have another date available.

Coach Pitch League Recognition

The ninth ranked North Tama Redhawk baseball team and coaches Dan Kopriva and Brady Buresh will be recognizing our youth league program for grades 1-3 and their coaches. The strong baseball tradition is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of the people involved in the youth programs. The baseball program would like to thank all the parents for the sacrifices they make so their children can attend practice and games. Baseball is a great game and every child deserves a chance to experience it. The recognition will be held Friday, June 18 at J. L. Lister at 6:55 pm.
