Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary September meeting

Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary of Clutier met on Tuesday, September 6th at 7pm at the post home. There were 7 members present.

President Veronica called the meeting to order. Eileen and Pauline advanced the colors and Mary said prayer and vacant chair.

Roll call was taken. August minutes were read and approved as read. Treasurer Diane gave units financial report. Veronica presented bill for the IVH picnic food. It was for fried chicken, pies, angel food cake, and tomatoes. Linda Dvorak made a motion to pay her bill, seconded by Mary Seda, motion carried.

Veronica reported on the picnic, served over 100 residents, had plenty of food for everyone.

Thank you from the family of Bob Caloud was read. We served lunch to 136 family and friends of Bob. Those working were Linda Dvorak, Mary Seda, Collette Wiebbecke, Marcella Caslavka, Marlus Svoboda, and Jackie Snyder.

Veronica read the article from the Auxiliary Communique regarding the AEF, Auxiliary Emergency Fund. Veronica went over who the fund can help and the eligibility for Auxiliary members following a significant financial setback as the result of an act of nature or other personal crisis. Mary Seda made a motion to donate a monetary amount, seconded by Eileen Hora to AEF, Motion carried.

Linda Dvorak made a motion seconded by Pauline Sienknecht for Veronica to purchase some needed utensils for the hall kitchen. Motion carried. Happy birthday was sung to Diane Caloud. Eileen Hora won the door prize.

Tama County joint meeting will be September 27th at 7pm at the Gladbrook post home. Our unit will be having a sewing day on Tuesday, Oct 4th beginning at 9am, potluck at noon, and monthly meeting in the afternoon at the Clutier post home. Anyone in the community is welcome to come and assist tearing, sewing, and rolling carpet rags for IVH in Marshalltown. October 16th the Auxiliary will be having a bake sale the same day the Legion’s Pancake breakfast will be held.

Veronica read “The Little Things” a reading regarding annoying little things that made people late for work on 9/11 and they are alive today. Eileen Hora told a joke to the group to end the evening. Colors were retired. Veronica served egg salad and roast beef sandwiches for lunch.
