Hora-Machacek held sewing day

Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a sewing day on Tuesday, November 1st. Day began at 9am tearing and sewing strips and rolling into carpet balls for rug weaving for IVH in Marshalltown. Those helping were: Lillian Dostal, Linda Dvorak, Pauline Sienknecht, Eileen Hora, Margaret Babinat, Veronica Pavlicek, Marcella Caslavka, and Diane Caloud. A delicious potluck was enjoyed at noon wth enjoyable fellowship.

Monthly meeting began at 1:30pm with President Veronica conducting. Roll call was taken and last months minutes were approved as read. Treasurer Diane gave our financial report. Bake sale was a huge success and Veronica thanks everyone who donated bake sale items or a monitory donation. Helpers on bake sale day were Linda Dvorak, Mary Seda, Diane Caloud and Veronica Pavlicek.

Linda Dvorak made a motion seconded by Pauline Sienknecht to send the profit from the 40&8 supper to their 40&8 scholarship fund. Motion carried. Bills presented was to Veronica for two brooms and 8 serving utensils and to Pauline for sheets. Marcella Caslavka made a motion seconded by Eileen Hora to pay the two bills. Motion carried.

Itemized donation documentation from IVH showed we had delivered 17 lbs of carpet rag balls that we had done in October. The group signed a thinking of your card which will be sent to Helen Sevcik.

Tama County Joint meeting will be November 22nd at 7pm at the Tama post home. There will be a memorial service for deceased Legion and Auxiliary members from the past year.

December 6th and 7th is IVH gift wrap in Marshalltown. It begins at 8am at Malloy LRC. Will need to call to make reservation for dinner. Our monthly meeting will be December 6th beginning at 2pm. Members please bring a non-perishable food items or paper products for the NE Iowa Food Pantry.
