In addition to the re-election of State Rep. Dean Fisher (R) and the upset win by Jeff Edler (R) over incumbent Steve Sodders (D) in the Iowa State Senate race, Tama County voters also made their choice for other local offices in last week’s election.

In the race for Tama County Sheriff, Dennis Kucera (R) was re-elected by a wide margin, earning the support of 5,486 voters compared to Bryan Ellenbecker’s 3,207. Results of this race were unavailable at press time last week.

Running unopposed in her bid for County Auditor was Laura Kopsa, who was re-elected with 6,366 votes. County Supervisors Dan Anderson (District 3) and Kendall Jordan (District 2) were also re-elected with 1,955 and 2,097 votes, respectively.

Oneida Township Trustrees are Joe Dvorak (95 votes) and Sandra Kopriva (88 votes). Clark Township Trustee is Dean McKenna (129 votes) and Clark Township Clerk is Phillip McKenna (129 votes).

According to the Tama County Commissioner of Elections Office, a total of 8,860 Tama County voters participated in this year’s election – a healthy 79.8 percent of the county’s 11,218 registered voters.
