Local girl helps raise big bucks for Tama County Humane Society

After volunteering with her mother for a few months at the Tama County Humane Society, one local girl and her family decided to start a fundraiser with some very positive results.

Lily Jampoler, the 11-year-old daughter of Jennifer Smentek, wanted a way to raise money for the shelter. After talking it over with her uncle, Scott, it was decided that he would do a fundraising walk along the Lake Michigan shoreline with his dog, Yobie.

The family used Facebook to keep people up to date on the progress of the walk, which ended up raising over $555 for the shelter.

The Tama County Humane Society is located at 1406 E. 5th St. in Tama. If you’d like more information on the many wonderful animals they have available for adoption, or how to donate, contact them at (641) 481-7001.
