Prom returns for area high schools
High schoolers at North Tama and Union are looking forward to the return of a popular spring tradition.
After the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all in-person school activity in April of 2020, students have been excited at the opportunity to again participate in the prom tradition.
Union High School plans to hold its prom on Saturday, April 17 with a theme titled “Rustic Romance”. Events will be held entirely off-campus with the meal and the dance taking place at the Courtyard Marriott hotel in Waterloo and the after prom celebration at the Cedar Valley Sportsplex.
There will be no community gathering or grand march event as part of this year’s Union prom.
Those attending prom activities at Union will be required to wear a mask while indoors except when seated eating the meal.
A week following the Union prom, North Tama students will celebrate their 2021 “Under the Sea” prom on April 24.
All North Tama prom activities, including the after prom celebration, will occur at the school. The evening will kick off with a grand march at 6:30 p.m. Families and community members are invited to attend, however capacity will be limited.
Masks will be recommended but not required at the North Tama prom and social distancing will be expected as much as possible.
