Carley C. Luethje, 82

Carley Clough Luethje was born June 29, 1931 in Kansas City, MO. She was the adopted daughter of Glen and Mabel (Westfall) Clough. She received her education in country school near Garwin and later graduated from Garwin High School in 1949. On April 2, 1950 she was married to Allan Luethje at Garwin and they operated the Sunrise Caf in Gladbrook. They later divorced. . Carley was a cook her entire life, she owned and operated the Red Lantern Restaurant in Garwin for many years and also managed the Gladbrook Bowl for a time. In later years she cooked for the Garwin schools and in the summer months did catering and cooked at Pilgrim Heights Campground near Garwin. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Birthday Club and various card clubs. Her death came at the Westbrook Acres Care Center in Gladbrook on Monday, August 19, 2013 at the age of 82 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Stanley and Milo a son in law Monte Goettsch and a niece Jeanette Clough Sanders. She is survived by two daughters Sherri Goettsch of Hollister, MO and Sheila (Tom) Ratliff of Garwin, three grandsons, Tony, Cory (Heather) and Sean (Hannah Hedum) and four great grandchildren, Noah, Mykel, Jazyk and Zadyn, brothers Howard “Tobe” (Maxine) Clough of Garwin, Jerry, Ed and Jim and sisters Pearl and Shirley.
