Loren H. Emke, 94

Loren H. Emke was born on September 12, 1919, in Crystal Township, Iowa, the son of Henry H. and Minnie (Frahm) Emke. Loren graduated from Gladbrook High with the class of 1937. He served his country in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945. He attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was stationed in the South Pacific. On May 26, 1942, Loren was united in marriage to Ina Luethje in Jefferson City, Missouri. To this union, three daughters and one son were born. The family made their home on their Century Farm in rural Crystal Township. Loren was very active in the 40/8 Legion, the Farm Service board of directors, Farm Bureau, and the Tama County Fair Board. He was also an Elder at Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook, a 4-H Leader and raised Aberdeen Angus cows. Loren died at the age of 94, on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. He is survived by three daughters, JoAnn (Robert) Jensen of Muscatine, Dotti (Mark) Keefer of Traer and DeeAnn (Tony) Hoog of Germantown, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Mary Emke of Marshalltown; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Loren was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and a son, Dennis H. Emke. Loren will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
