Manetta A. Ohrt, 90

Manetta Amelia Ohrt was born May 29, 1923 in Dysart, Iowa: the daughter of John and Anna (Fischer) Havran. She was raised in the Dysart area and attended Dysart Consolidated School all 12 years. Manetta attended Pitze’s Beauty School in Waterloo. She was united in marriage to Marvin Ohrt on June 3, 1944 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart, they lived most of their married lives in Dysart and Clutier on farms. Manetta was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart, she also taught Sunday School and Bible School classes, was a WELCA member and part of the Mary Martha Circle. She also was a 4-H Leader, Clutier Librarian and volunteered at the Tama County Museum and Genealogy. Manetta received her 75 year pin from the ZCBJ Lodge in Clutier, she was chosen Fraternalist of the year in 2004. Her and Marvin were members of the Cedar Valley Polka Club.

Manetta passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer at the age of 90.

Manetta worked three years in the Traer Beauty Salon, Chenille Sewing for five years and was an Avon sales representative for nine years. She was a member of the Iowa Pollettes of the Polled Hereford Association. Then she was chosen Iowa Pollette of the year.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Katharine Havran and one grandson, Andrew Suchanek. Manetta is survived by her husband Marvin of Clutier; one son Royce (Glenda) of Buckingham; one daughter Verona (Andy) Suchanek of Tama; a sister, Nadine Vorba of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
