Florence “Flo” R. Cochran, 83

Florence “Flo” Rita Cochran, 83, of Dysart, passed away on December 11, 2013 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Visitation was held at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart on Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a Rosary Service to follow at 6 p.m. Funeral service was held at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer on Monday, December 16 at 11 a.m. with burial following at Dysart Cemetery.

Florence “Flo” Rita Cochran was born on February 22, 1930, in Lowell, Massachusetts, the daughter of Raymond and Blanche (Dougherty) McGrath Caron. She grew up in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1948. On November 19, 1951, Flo was united in marriage to James Cochran in Yuma, Arizona. When James retired from the Navy, the couple moved back to Lowell. In 1982, they moved to Tucson, Arizona until 1988 when they settled in Dysart. Flo was a past president of the La’ Maison Woman’s Club and a past president of the Dysart Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Dysart Garden Club, Dysart Country Club and St. Mary’s Parrish. Flo loved spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Norman and Tom McGrath. Flo is survived by a daughter, Karen Peterson of Clutier; a son, Tim (Connie) Cochran of Connecticut; a brother, Jackie McGrath of Tucson, Arizona; a sister, Mary Farias of Lowell; and five grandchildren, Amy Cochran, Elizabeth Mutiva, Andrew Osuna, Rachel Cochran and Shawn Cochran.
