Corrine E. Elston, 71

Corrine Eleanor Halupnik Elston, 71, of Traer, formerly of Toledo and Glenwood Springs, Colorado, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 in rural Tama County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A family directed memorial service will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at the United Presbyterian Church, 307 Walnut Street in Traer at 7:00 PM with Pastor Brice Hoyt officiating. Interment will be private. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 31 from 5-7 PM at the church.

Corrine was born February 14, 1942, in Grinnell, Iowa, and was raised by her foster parents, Harold and Frances Brandt.

She graduated from Traer High School in 1960 and then graduated from Beauty College.

On January 7, 1963, she was united in marriage to Wayne Halupnik at the Traer United Methodist Church. He passed away in 1980. She then married Tod Elston on October 13, 1984. He passed away August 2, 2009. Corrine worked as a front desk manager at hotels in Colorado and was also a hairdresser out of her home when she lived in Toledo. Corrine was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Traer and the Traer Country Club. She enjoyed going to the Casino and loved to read. Corrine liked the Denver Broncos, Iowa Hawkeyes and NASCAR.

Survivors include her daughter, Shele (Tom) Anderson of Tama; two grandchildren, Megan (Robert) Secor of Fort Dodge and Ben Trepp of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Halupnik, her second husband, Tod Elston; her son David Halupnik; her foster parents, Harold and Frances Brandt; and her brother, Doug Brandt.
