Loretta F. Hanus, 79

Loretta Faye Hanus was born May 17, 1934, to Peter and Vanetta (Fink) Byrnes/Knoop in Grundy County. She attended rural schools and graduated from Traer High School in 1952. Loretta married Donald Hanus on June 15, 1953. They lived on a farm near Dysart all of their married lives. She was currently a member at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer, a previous member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, K.D. Lodge #130, American Legion Auxiliary, as well as Traer and Waterloo Women’s Bowling Associations.

Loretta passed away on Thursday January, 30th, 2014. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Daryl (Florence) Hanus and Neil (Misty) Hanus of Traer; one daughter, Denise (Greg) Peterson of Belleville, IL; one grandson, Nathan (Holly Fell) Hanus of La Porte City; two granddaughters, Maureen (Boyd) Johanningmeier of Traer and Courtney Davison of Camdenton, MO; three great-grandsons, Seth and Evan Hanus of LaPorte City and Austin Johanningmeier of Traer; and two great-granddaughters, Madyson and Brooklyn Johanningmeier of Traer. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Coleen (Hanus) Short; one half-brother, Rodger Knoop; and one step-sister, Neva Peterson. Loretta will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
