Charles E. Bartosh, 93

Charles Edward “Charlie” Bartosh, 93, of Toledo passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Grandview Heights Rehab and Healthcare in Marshalltown under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Curtis Bearden officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3 from 5 – 8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Charles was born on March 4, 1921 in Elberon, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Agnes (Buresh) Bartosh.

He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942-1945.

On April 23, 1942, he was united in marriage to Esther Beatrice Hardon at the Methodist parsonage in Tama. Charlie worked at the Packaging Corp. of Tama for thirty-six years retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Tama American Legion and a charter member of VFW Post in Tama. Charlie played the Button Box accordion and entertained at area care centers. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Charlie especially enjoyed going on an Honor Flight to Washington, DC on September 13, 2011.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Loren) Drake of Davenport; two sons, Wayne (Faye) Bartosh of Davenport and Lester Joe Bartosh of Kewanee. IL; four grandchildren, Kenneth (Patty) Bearden, Curtis (Melody) Bearden, Tara (Jim) Moffit, and JoAnn Bartosh; four great-granddaughters, Ashley Bearden, Autumn Bearden, Aine and Kyna Moffit; one sister, Marie Vilimek of Lake Mills; and one brother, Joey Bartosh of Dysart.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Esther on June 20, 2010; granddaughter, Mary Bartosh; and one sister, Libbie Kos.

A memorial fund has been established.
