Kaylan R. McLaren, 21

Kaylan R. McLaren, 21, of Waterloo, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014. Visitation will be held at River’s Edge Christian Church on June 5, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a service at 8 p.m.

Kaylan Robert McLaren was born April 25, 1993 in Morristown, Tennessee: the son of Jeffrey McLaren and Esa Marie (Brown) McLaren. He graduated from Union High School In LaPorte City, with the class of 2011. Following high school, Kaylan went to the Dominican Republic on a mission trip. He the joined the United States Navy. After the Navy, Kaylan worked several jobs in the area, most recently at Men’s Warehouse. He was an accomplished drummer and enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding, fishing and Karate. Kaylan especially loved Christ and was a member at River’s Edge Christian Church.

Kaylan passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Covenant Medical Center at the age of 21. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Theodore and Lulu Brown and a cousin Kelley McLaren. Kaylan is survived by his father Jeff McLaren of Waterloo; his mother Esa Marie (Brown) Talley of Rutledge, Tennessee paternal grandparents, Robert and Evelyn McLaren of Dysart; 4 uncles: Tim (Mary) McLaren of Marion, Steve (Teri) McLaren of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Tom (Karen) McLaren of Germantown Hills, Illinois and Mike (Tami) McLaren of Dysart; an aunt Diane (Mark) Huisenga of Marion and 11 cousins. Kaylan will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
