Diana J. Steinmetz, 64

Diana J. Steinmetz, 64, of Traer, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Covenant Medical Center after a battle with cancer. Visitation will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Traer on Thursday, August 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a service the following day, Friday, August 8 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Buckingham Cemetery.

Diana Jean Steinmetz was born December 15, 1949 in Coralville, IA, daughter of Thomas and Jean Davita (Davidson) Ross. After high school she attended Kirkwood College where she met Dennis Steinmetz. They married in Coralville on August 22, 1971. They moved to Cedar Falls so Dennis could pursue additional education at the University of Northern Iowa and purchased their first home. After the arrival of their first two children, they began to search for their dream Victorian home which they found in Traer in 1977.

Diana settled into life in Traer as a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church Women of Life, sewing quilts as long as her health allowed. When the family would take vacations, Diana would plan the trip down to the finest detail! She was a Girl Scout Leader and loved to camp! Diana worked in retail sales at Sears for many years. She will be remembered by her family as a very strong person who never quit with a wonderful sense of humor.

Diana passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Covenant Medical Center at the age of 64. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of, nearly 43 years, Dennis; two sons, Dennis Steinmetz of Tucson, AZ and Eric Steinmetz (Kricket Roberts) of Papillion, NE; two daughters, Christina (Jason) Toulouse of Traer and Andrea Steinmetz (Damir Insanic) of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren, Sonja and Triston Toulouse and Selma Insanic; one brother, Thomas (Judy) Ross III or Tucson, AZ; and one sister Janet (Douglas) Marberry of Indianola.

Diana will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
