Abbie D. Sash, 97, of Gladbrook, IA, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014, at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook. Funeral services, with an Eastern Star service, will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Gladbrook United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Gladbrook United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Crystal Cemetery. Abbie was born February 16, 1917, to Edwin and Florence Brown in Spirit Lake, IA. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School and attended the State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Abbie was united in marriage to Glen Sash on September 22, 1939 in Spirit Lake. Abbie was a homemaker. She was a member of Gladbrook United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Crystal Friendship Club, Schade Ladies, Marathon Card Club, Eastern Star and Farm Bureau. She also spent several years volunteering at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home and Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Abbie enjoyed sewing, fishing, reading, playing cards and serving as a 4H leader.

Abbie is survived by her two children, son, Keith (JoAnne) Sash of Gladbrook, and daughter, Corrine (Larry) Jensen of Gladbrook; five grandchildren, Lynne Sash of Edinburgh, Scotland, Stacey (Rhett) Schildroth of North Liberty, IA, Craig (Autumn) Sash of Traer, IA, Shelly (Greg Gehrke) Piner of Altoona, IA, Brian (Melissa) Jensen of Jessup, IA; 13 great-grandchildren, sister, Alice Taylor and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen, who passed away December 28, 1990, and 8 brothers and sisters.
