Watson wins another as cross country wraps up regular season

The North Tama cross county team finished 11th as a group in the Wolverine Invitational on October 2. The event, which was held at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike, brought 15 area teams together.

Once again, Abi Watson finished in fourth place, a spot that has become familiar for her this season. Watson has placed in the top five in the majority of meets for the Redhawks this season. This time, she ran a 15:32. Jamie Huntley returned to action, running an 18:48 and finishing in 64th place. BrandiAnne Daub finished 74th with a 19:29, and Jordyn TeBeest ran a 20L05, good enough for 20:05. Alexis Tayler ran a 20:23, good enough for 84th place. Rachel Kopriva finished in 95th place with a 21:37. The average time for the Redhawks was 18:51.

Following their trip to Dike, North Tama ran in a meet at Montezuma on Thursday, October 4. Times were a bit slower, with Watson finishing with a 16:13. Huntley ran a 19:14, with Daub close behind at 19:31. TeBeest finished at 21:00 with Rachel Kopriva running a 21:57. Alexis Taylor ran a 23:41.

On the boys’ side, Robert Young ran a 22:50.

The Redhawks wrapped up their cross country season with a meet at Union High School at the La Porte City golf course on Tuesday, October 9th. Results of that meet and any information on district qualifying will be included when available.
