Hassman is delegate at P.E.O. annual convention

Dotta Hassman, delegate from Chapter EC, Traer, attended the 117th annual Convention of Iowa State Chapter P.E.O. Sisterhood held May 30 – 31 in Des Moines. With the theme “P.E.O. All About PEOple,” Sally Long, Chapter EH, Des Moines, presided over 700 delegates and visitors. Twenty-five chapters from northwest Iowa served as the hostess group for the convention. Attendees participated in workshops and heard from recipients of several of P.E.O.’s five philanthropies and the Iowa P.E.O. Project Fund, Inc. The convention concluded with the installation of the seven 2009-2010 executive board officers lead by President, Margaret P. Hubbard, Chapter BC, Waverly. Also installed were First Vice President, Jill E. Mortenson, OV, Cedar Falls; Second Vice President, Judy A. Hughes, MF, Council Bluffs; Organizer, Barbara B. Moore, DT, Mount Vernon; Recording Secretary Glenda R. Dixon, OP, Cedar Rapids; Corresponding Secretary, Judith Twedt, AM, Nevada; and Treasurer, Elizabeth Bunnell, OO, Fairfield. P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College; and motivate each other to achieve their highest aspirations. There are approximately 6,000 chapters in the United States & Canada with nearly 250,000 members. Iowa is the second largest state chapter with 394 chapters and more than 19,000 members.
