Kvidera elected President of North Tama

North Tama seniors in Nate Walston Government class took part in their own campagins this past month, with Molly Kvidera named President and Hailey Stover Vice-President after a tight race.

The class was divided into small groups with a presidential and vice-presidential candiate and jobs relating to campaign finances, videography, recording and speech writing. Each group began planning and brainstorming their campaigns in class as they designed a flier to put out in the school. Fundraising for campaigns involved teachers at North Tama to pay for commericials, buttons, fliers and speaking to teachers and classrooms to draw votes. Any personal attacks would result in failing grades.

Election Day was held on Thursday, Dec. 20 and after gaining an early lead, the duo of Kvidera/Stover and their team won the election and claimed the sweet prize of extra credit points. This was a newer project for Wolston’s class and will change in the future, including possible interviews by the Traer Star-Clipper to give more realism to campaigning.
