Ewoldt joins Traer Chiropractic staff

Traer Chiropractic has welcomed Kortlyn Ewoldt, a Licensed Massage Therapist, to the office for massage therapy services.

Ewoldt is a 2018 graduate of Union High School and studied at Carlson College of Massage Therapy in Anamosa for six months after high school. Before returning to her hometown of Dysart last month, Ewoldt has worked to put her name out for services until beginning her career with Traer Chiropractic three weeks ago.

“Throughout high school, my favorite class was anatomy,” Ewoldt said. “I loved learning about the body, movement, muscles and bones. Since then, I decided I wanted to do something related to the body. I thought about pursuing Physical Therapy, then I decided to take a more holistic approach as opposed to medicinal. Massage therapy is a shorter program and quickly learn I wanted to do this.”

A patient herself since middle school, Ewoldt was approached by Traer Chiropractic while still taking massage therapy course to gauge her interest in working close to home. As a member of the staff, Ewoldt provides massage ranging from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. Massages may include a general Swedish massage for deep tissue relaxation, lymphatic massages, reflexology, sports massages and prenatal massages. She also works the front desk when not engaged in appointments and files her own paperwork separate from the other practitioners.

“I love working here because it’s everything i dreamed of going through school,” Ewoldt said. “It’s wonderful to be around people I know and who know me. It’s comfortable being in a familiar area I grew up in. I’m excited to be able to start my career as such a young age.”

“We are excited to have Kortlyn join the Traer Chiropractic team,” Dr. Jim Smith said. “We have had many requests from the community to expand our services into massage therapy and we are happy to be able to meet that demand. Massage therapy greatly compliments chiropractic care. Chiropractic care primarily focuses on the spine and joints in the body while massage therapy focuses on the soft tissues and muscles of the body. Both therapies used in conjunction can lead to faster healing times and improved quality of life.”

Ewoldt will be available for walk-ins and appointments Monday through Friday with the exception of Tuesday afternoons when the office is closed. To schedule an appointment, call Traer Chiropractic at (319) 478-8515 for availability.
