After 20 years in operation the North Tama Activity Center has been closed and is up for sale.

The former grocery store building on North Main Street in Traer was renovated and reopened as an activity center in 2000 by a group of local citizens.

In its early years it facilitated youth and elderly activities and has more recently become a venue for graduation parties, family gatherings, local elections, and other various community events.

The current owners reported flooding as the primary reason for seeking to part ways with the facility.

The center experienced major flooding in 2008, 2012, and unfortunately this past spring shortly after new carpet was installed.
