Hora-Machacek held sewing day Nov. 1

Sewing day was held on Tuesday, November 1, by Hora-Machacek Auxiliary at the Clutier post home. Those attending were Pauline S, Collette W, Veronica P, Linda D, Rosemary V, Cyndy B, and Deb K. Eight lap quilt tops were finished by sewing middle and back to the tops. Some ladies cut, joined, and balled grocery sacks for crocheting sleep mats.

Diane C. joined us for potluck lunch. Monthly meeting after the clean up was conducted by President Veronica. She called the roll and read October’s minutes which were approved as read. Diane gave our unit’s financial report. President Veronica is very grateful to donations, bakery items, and especially the buyers of the good items which made the bake sale a great success. Members helping were Collette W, Mary S, Becky F, Diane C, and Veronica P. Collette W. made a motion to send a monetary amount to the Clutier 1st Responders and also to the Clutier Fire Department, seconded by Linda D. Motion was approved. Linda D. made a motion to send a monetary amount to the Tama County Food Bank, seconded by Pauline S. Motion carried.

Diane reported on the 3rd district conference in Reinbeck and county meeting in Elberon. One item from the 3rd district meeting is that National is planning on raising dues which will affect our local units.

December 6 will be a monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Courtney, our girl stater, is planning to give her report on the girl state she attended in June in Des Moines. Our next sewing day will be January 3 beginning at 9 a.m., potluck at noon, and monthly meeting in the afternoon. Everyone present was given a Christmas potholder made by Veronica.
