Sokol reunion

The descendants of Joseph and Anna (Hanus) Sokol held their 58th annual reunion at the Clutier Legion Hall on Sunday, September 18, 2011 with 37 members in attendance. Hosting the event was the family of Agnes Sokol Blaha.

A noon potluck dinner was enjoyed by all. The tables were decorated with candles and fall maple leaf refrigerator magnets. The afternoon was spent visiting and playing “Sokol” bingo and”Sokol” trivia. The centerpieces were given as game and doorprizes.

The name, Joseph, was passed down many generations in the Sokol family, the last one carrying the name was born in 1891. After more then a century, another Sokolcarries the name.Born in August, 2011 Joseph Sokol, son of Michael and Sally Sokol ofGrinnell, was in attendance.

A discussion was heard regarding the date of future reunions, with a vote being taken to change the date to the second Sunday in July asit was originally. The next reunion will be held Sunday, July 8, 2012 with the family of Julia Sokol Linhart as hosts.
