Union harriers run NICL meet Oct. 15

DENVER–On a cold and windy course, the North Iowa Cedar League teams ran their conference meet at the Willow Run Country Club in Denver on Oct. 15.

Union girls finished seventh in the team standings with 180 points, paced by eighth-place finisher Ellie Rathe with a time of 20:56.05. Lauren Youngblut finished 19th and ran a time of 22:00.62 to come second in the team.

Other GC/G-R finishers included Sydney Anton, 24:12.84; Elle Hookham, 24:23.57; Alexa Weber, 24:26.01; Audrey Kline, 24:29.94; and Ellie Keegan, 26:00.

2A No. 6 Jesup captured the girls team title and Jesup’s No. 5 ranked Amanda Treptow came in first with a time of 19:44.56.

Union boys finished 11th in the team standings and scored just one top-40 finisher — junior Conner Prestemon in 30th, running a 19:13.99.

Other Union finishers included Asher Beerman, 20:11.25; Sam Fehl, 20:31.13; Wyatt Hoy, 20:40.33; Sam Klein, 22:10.23; Austin Martin, 22:59.96; and Danson Moody, 24:45.00.

2A No. 3 Denver captured the team title and Hudson’s No. 9 ranked Sam Hansen came in first with a time of 17:23.46.

The teams next traveled to Jesup to compete in the state-qualifying meet on Oct. 22.

The top 15 individual runners and the top three teams in each district race will qualify for the State Meet in Fort Dodge on Oct. 31.
