Tama County Republicans hold County Convention in Toledo

Tama County Republican Women hosted 52 delegates from county-wide to the Tama County Republican Convention Saturday, March 14th at the Reinig Center in Toledo.

The event was chaired by retired Judge Moe McWhirter of Traer. (RIGHT)

South Tama High School junior Hope Werner and Tama County Attorney Brent Heeren, both of Toledo, served as Secretary and Parliamentarian, respectively.

Tama County’s Iowa Senator Jeff Edler, Iowa Representative Dean Fisher and Sheriff Dennis Kucera all addressed the convention.

Additional remarks were made on behalf of Ashley Hinson and Thomas Hansen, both vying for the Republican nomination for the 1st District’s U.S. House of Representatives seat.

A platform was debated and adopted by the convention delegates as a statement of Tama County Republican beliefs and stances on issue. The Party’s District convention in Monticello has been cancelled because of coronavirus guidelines and delegates will vote by mail. The State convention in Des Moines is set for June.

Refreshments were provided by the Tama County Republican Women’s group.
