Union Knights Soccer team still undefeated
The Union Knights girls’ soccer team took a long bus ride to Mason City Monday night to play a match in unseasonably chilly weather. Perseverance and patience guided the Knights to their ninth shut-out of the season. Two of the Knights’ four goals came off rebounds with the forwards following shots to get a scoring opportunity. Sophomore Noel Mahood scored the Knights’ first goal with 14:30 left to play in the first half. Freshman Kylie Powell had the Knights’ first second half goal at the 34:20 mark. Sophomore Darian Powell recorded the Knights’ final two goals at the 19:10 and 11:03 marks.
Darian Powell assisted on the first two goals of the game. Senior Lauren Bauer and sophomore Casey Barney tallied one assist apiece. The Knights outshot the Mohawks 25-4 and took twelve corner kicks. Sweeper Brittany Frush and goalkeeper Whitney Blunt led the Knights’ defense with solid play in the back.Final score was Union 4-Mason City 0.Union’s season Record: 9-0.
Union will play against Center Point-Urbana this Thursday in Dysart.
