Statebound! North Tama Academic Decathalon team aces the test

The North Tama Academic Decathalon team competed in the Northeast Iowa Regional Academic Decathalon competition in Grundy Center on Jan. 26 and came away with a 2022 Iowa Academic Decathalon State Qualifying Team title. Those competing as part of the team include (from left to right) Izzy Hallet, Alexis Chizek, Madison McKee, Madison Schults, Hunter Finzen, Johnathan Cochran, and Alex Meggers. North Tama is one of just 24 teams to advance to the State Academic Decathalon in Mason City on March 4-5. The United States Academic Decathalon curricula theme for 2021-2022 is “Water: A Most Essential Resource.” North Tama’s head coach is TAG/teacher librarian Brenda Jensen; high school teachers Matt Walston (social studies) and Hollie Hampton (language arts) are the assistant coaches; the team’s sponsor is Traer Community Foundation.
