North Tama Schools seeking public feedback regarding facility needs

Survey available now online

The North Tama County Community School District is inviting community members to take a survey to evaluate and provide input on potential solutions to the district’s facility needs.

The anonymous survey will be open through the end of the day on Tuesday, October 4.

“Over the past 18 months, the district has hosted community input meetings and provided other opportunities for residents to share their thoughts about the future of our facilities,” said David Hill, Superintendent. “The School Board and district leaders are now inviting all district residents to take our survey and provide us with their input and feedback on how we can best move forward.”

In January 2021, the district engaged a team to perform a comprehensive study of all facilities and create a long-range facilities master plan. Through the study, the district learned that, due to the age and condition of its facilities, maintenance alone would cost $13 million over the next decade.

District leaders and board members wanted to know if there would be a wiser investment that could provide a 21st Century learning environment for students and better position the facilities for the future.

The survey takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. To take it online, please visit http://www.northtamasurvey.org
