DYSART – As is becoming an annual tradition, Union Community Schools celebrated Iowa Local Food Day last week on Wednesday, Sept. 27 over the lunch hour. For the celebration’s main course, the district served both beef burgers and all-beef bratwurst from Farming with Mark out of La Porte City. Both beef options were grilled up by farmer Mark Anton himself alongside Dysart Mayor Tim Glenn. Students also enjoyed fresh cucumbers and tomatoes from the district’s local ag science garden, apples from Beck Orchards located in Buckingham, Upstate Farms yogurt, and local honey courtesy of students in the high school’s senior class.
