DYSART – Dysart’s Youngblut Ag in partnership with Tama County Extension & Outreach recently hosted for the third time the annual ‘Ag Safety Day’ for Dysart-Geneseo Elementary students. According to Youngblut Ag business manager Cassidy Youngblut, on Sept. 26, DG students participated in three interactive stations including grain bin safety, equipment blind spot safety, and first aid/emergency safety. The grain bin safety station – taught by County Youth Coordinator Jenny Hulme (pictured, far left) – “was the most popular this year,” Youngblut wrote on Facebook following the event, with students “testing their muscles to see if they could pull someone out of a grain bin” as part of the simulation. “I love that Union trusts all of us to do a small part to keep these kids safe,” Youngblut told the newspaper, “and hopefully avoid any farm accidents in this community.”
