DYSART – Wheelchairs 4 Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with mobility challenges, is thrilled to announce that Brady McGivern, a nine-year-old boy who is living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, has received a foldable power chair, thanks to the generous donation of the Max Lopez family.

Brady, who lives in Dysart with his family including his parents Carly and Pat McGivern, faces the daily challenges of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a progressive muscle-wasting disease that causes fatigue and makes it increasingly difficult for him to walk or participate in activities. As a student at DG Elementary School, Brady was often too tired to walk between classes, affecting his ability to engage with his peers and fully participate in school life.

With the help of the Lopez family’s generous contribution, Wheelchairs 4 Kids was able to provide Brady with a foldable power chair at no cost that will improve his mobility and independence. The lightweight, portable design of the chair will enable Brady to move freely both in and out of school, reducing fatigue and giving him the freedom to be more present in his daily life.

For Brady and his family, this gift is more than just a mobility aid – it’s a step toward a brighter future filled with more opportunities for connection and growth. Brady’s parents shared their gratitude, saying, “My son was so excited, this wheelchair fits him perfect. This allows him to get around safely and with confidence. Offering him full independence to get around freely. It was great to find a chair that fits his size and that is a lightweight power wheelchair…making it easy to take anywhere.”

As part of Wheelchairs 4 Kids’ mission, the organization works to ensure that children facing physical challenges have access to the mobility devices they need to lead fulfilling and active lives. Every donation, big or small, has a profound impact on the children and families served.
