DYSART – The Dysart Historical Society’s fifth annual Country School Day will be held on Tuesday, July 22, at the local historical center campus (612 Crisman St.). Students who will be in grades 4-6 this coming fall are invited to join in a day of learning and fun.
The school day will begin at 9 a.m. at the country school building and it will end at 4 p.m. with a short program and refreshments for families and friends at 3:30 p.m.
The theme for this year is “West on the Orphan Train.” The day will feature stories, creative writing, crafts, and games. A morning snack will be served along with a sack lunch in the courtyard at noon. Lunch will include food items which would have been enjoyed by families in the late 1800s.
The teacher will be Shelby Janssen, currently a second-grade teacher at Gladbrook-Reinbeck Elementary.
Cost for the day is $15 and scholarships are available. Enrollment forms are available at the museum on Sundays and at the Norma Anders Public Library.
Information and enrollment forms may also be obtained by calling 319-476-7345, 319-476-3557, or 319-476-2510.
