LA PORTE CITY – The Union Community School District has received a High Performing designation on the Iowa Department of Education’s 2025 School Performance Profile.
The district earned a score of 72.69 points, well above the state average of 63.28 points, and met or exceeded the state average in 10 of 11 performance criteria.
“I am extremely proud of our students, staff, parents, guardians, and community in earning the designation of High Performing,” Superintendent John Howard said. “Our focus has been, and always will be, student success. This recognition corresponds with our goal and demonstrates the commitment and care of everyone involved in our school district.”
The Iowa School Performance Profiles serve as the state’s accountability system for public school districts. The ratings are based on multiple measures, including student achievement, academic growth, and indicators related to learning conditions and postsecondary readiness.
Union CSD’s High Performing designation reflects the district’s continued emphasis on strong instruction, data-informed decision making, and collaborative efforts among educators, families, and community members to support student learning.
