Redhawks remain perfect with another shutout win

ELGIN – The Class A No. 2 North Tama football team registered its fifth shutout in as many games as the Redhawks defeated Valley Community 45-0 on Friday night.

The Redhawks improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in District 4. Valley Community drops to 0-5, 0-2.

North Tama had a pair of 100-yard rushers in Jacob Wrage and Dalton Hulme.

Wrage had 10 carries for 104 yards and three touchdowns (16, 29 and 11) and also was 3-for-6 passing for 68 yards and a touchdown. Hulme gained 118 yards on 12 rushing attempts, was 3-for-3 passing for 47 yards with a touchdown to Mitchell Boerm, and caught a 35-yard scoring strike from Wrage to start the scoring.

Kyle Mesch also had a 1-yard touchdown run for the Redhawks, who have won 36 consecutive regular season games. Boerm finished with a team-high three receptions for 32 yards.

Nolan Hefty had nine stops on defense (two solo and seven assists), Nick Whannel and Boerm finished with eight tackles apiece.

North Tama returns to Traer next Friday for a showdown with No. 5 Postville.
