Wrestling team knocks off Decorah, V-S

The Union wrestling team beat two solid opponents in a meet last week, knocking off Decorah and Vinton-Shellsburg.

The Knights outscored Decorah 58-12, which won its only two contests at 113 and 132 pounds by forfeit.

At 106 pounds, Derek Holschlag won his match 4-2. Blake Harran and Ryder Albertson won their matches at 120 and 126 pounds, respectively, by forfeit. Max Thomsen and Trevor McLaughlin also won at 138 and 145 pounds by forfeit.

Cole Reiter won a close 7-5 match at 152 pounds, and Jacob Holschlag and Joey Damro won their matches at 160 and 170 by forfeit.

Gavin Eastman earned a 12-3 decision at 182 pounds, while Jace Hadachek won by forfeit at 195 pounds.

Keaton Newgan won his match at 220 by a razor-thin 1-0 margin, and Jacob Clark rounded out the day with an 8-2 victory at 285 pounds.

The match against Vinton-Shellsburg was similarly lopsided, with the Knights notching a 69-7 advantage in points. Their losses at 113 and 132 pounds were the only negatives of the match.
