Seven injured in July 4 crash near Traer
The driver and six passengers, including five children, were hurt late Saturday night, July 4, south of Traer on US. Highway 63 according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Jeymi Rivas-Sarabia 27, identified as the driver and passenger Perla Juarez-Arevalo, 8 were taken by Traer ambulance; passengers Dalie Rodriguez-Jurez, 32, Mabela Juarez-Rivas, age two and Mily Juarez-Rivas, age three, were taken by Dysart ambulance all to Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo; Sammy Ribas, 14, and Julisa Ribas, 13, were transported to Allen Hospital, Waterloo, by Gladbrook ambulance.
All of the victims were listed with Ottumwa, Iowa, addresses.The extent of the injuries was not immediately known.
The two adults and two and three-year olds were wearing according to the patrol. the three other victims were apparently not.
The Patrol crash report said their 2004 Dodge Durango was northbound on Highway 63 when it went off the roadway and Rivas-Sarabia over-corrected, coming back across the road, entering the north ditch where it rolled several times.
The accident, reported at 11:12 p.m. remains under investigation by the Patrol.
