Pork Producers offering FL trip for students
The Tama County Pork Producers are announcing an opportunity for an all expense paid trip to Florida in March of 2016. Participants must be Tama County residents and either a junior or senior in high school and a member of a Tama County 4-H Club or be an FFA member.
Applications may be secured by calling Pork Producer Dennis Gienger on his cell 641-750-3069. Up to ten students will be selected and the youth does not have to be involved in the pork industry. A committee will review applications and make the selections.
The week long trip will take place the middle part of March. Intentions are for the youth involved to learn more about the agriculture industry in FL. Florida is is the Strawberry Capital of the World and the strawberries will be in full bloom at that time. Plans also include a visit to a large dairy, a cattle ranch, watch the manatees on the Gulf Coast and a visit to the Everglades.
The Tama County Pork Producers have partnered with the Florida FFA Organization to provide a learning opportunity for students interested in pursuing agriculture related careers. Members of the Florida FFA will be visiting Tama County during mid-September.
