Clutier’s Bohemian Plum Festival Aug. 5 & 6
As always, Clutier’s annual Bohemian Plum Festival is gearing up for a fun filled weekend.
The Plum Festival’s goal is to celebrate their Bohemian Czech heritage, along with having fun for the everyone.
Events begin on Friday Aug 5th with the Bohemian Flea Market 12:00- 7:00pm. At 7:00pm, the polka favorite, Barefoot Becky will perform on Main Street Clutier singing and playing Czech music. The festival committee will start serving food at 5pm. The menu consists of pork loin sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs along with introducing their signature Bohemian Plum brat. Czech bakery is a popular attraction serving kolaches, buthy, rohlicky and tea rings.
Bring your lawan chairs, sit back and enjoy good food, outstanding Czech bakery and awesome entertainment by Barefoot Becky.
Saturday events begin at 8:00am with the Bohemian Plum 5k run-walk. Entries can be found online. You may register in person the day of the race.
Events scheduled for the day include: The Bohemian Plum Flea Market located at the Plum Street Market.
The Veteran’s Parade and Grand Parade at 11:00am. On Main Street you will find the Kiddie Parade, Kiddie money scramble and the Kiddie tractor pulls.
Entertainment on Main Street following the parade include the “High School Sensations” and Award Winning Storm Seymour. The annual Clutier Library Auction takes place at 4pm. At 6:30pm the ever popular 50’s and 60’s performer “Richie Lee” will be singing on Main Street prior to the 26th annual car Cruise.
Food offered for the festival this year include: Tama Co. Pork Producers, Indian Tacos, Mini donuts and much more. The Clutier Volunteer Firemen will be serving a hog roast meal starting at 5pm.
Special attractions for the 2016 Bohemian Plum Festival will be remembering the Derecho of 2011. There will be a gallery of pictures located near the Plum Street Market.
There will be a slide show showing the destruction of the derecho in the community and rural Clutier. This event will be held inside the Plum Street Market.
The final attraction will be the continual showing of the film “Hometown”. This film was filmed in Clutier with local actors. The premier of the movie was held in 2011 at the Bohemian Plum Festival just after the derecho. The movie was enjoyed by a packed house and has been asked to be shown once again! The showing will also take place in the Plum Street Market.
