Monroe Barnstormers February meeting

The February meeting of the Monroe Barnstormers was held Sunday, February 11th, 2018, at the Dysart Fire Station at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was led by the club president, Kaylin Brustkern. Members in attendance were: Kyle Hennings, Sadie Hennings, Coleton Volpelak, Michael Frisbe, Logan Brown, Kelsey Brown, Leah Kaufman, Kendall Putz, Kaylin Brustkern, Autumn Brustkern, and Taylor Baltes.

The club reviewed old business including the trip to Get Air trampoline park, the annual requirement of attending a FSQA meeting if a 4H member plans to exhibit livestock at the fair, and the club project of food box donation at Christmas time. The club would like to participate in the food box donations again next year as a community service project. The dates of the FSQA meeting over the next two months were presented, and members were reminded that this requirement must be completed by the May deadline.

New business on the agenda included possibly getting a team together for the 4H Volleyball Tournament on March 11th in Vinton. Several members were interested in participating. Swine weigh-in is on March 24th. There is a new process this year for static exhibit entry for the county fair. This needs to be completed online sometime from May 15th through June 18th, and there will be help dates in May at the extension office for anyone with questions. There are instructions on 4H online as well. This year Monroe Barnstormers will require each member to give a presentation to the club. Members were encouraged to take time to prepare fro the presentation so that it is organized and informative.

The Monroe barnstormers meet each month, typically the first Sunday of the month. Anyone interested in joining the club are encouraged to contact the club leaders, Tim and Patricia Brown, or inquire with a club member/family.
