Supervisors approve $28.4 million budget for 2020-21, is up 17 percent

While Tama County spending topped $28 million in next fiscal years budget, the tax levy rate remained the same for both urban and rural property. The Board of Supervisors voted 3-0 Monday to approve the budget following a public hearing with no comments heard.

The biggest increase was seen in capital projects with a jump to just over $8 million from the current $24.2 million. The hike is attributed primarily to the new emergency and law enforcement radio system now being installed. It has a maximum $6.7 million price tag.
