North Tama board to hear study findings

The North Tama Board of Education will hold a special work session at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 26 in the Jr. High Commons. The board will receive and discuss initial findings of the comprehensive facility study that is currently underway.

The team of architects and engineers from Align Architecture & Planning, PLC in cooperation with Modus Engineering and Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP will be on hand for the presentation and board discussion.

It is expected that the board will discuss various options for moving forward and provide input to the team of architects and engineers to help determine the next steps in the process.

No formal board action will be taken at this work session, but interested district patrons are invited attend in order to hear the architects’ presentation and to observe the board’s discussions.

Since late 2020, the Align architect team has gathered data on all district owned facilities including educational and extra-curricular spaces.

Along with the data, input has been sought from a variety of district stakeholders including staff, students, coaches and the community at large to help guide the analysis.

It is expected the study team will present a tiered list of facility improvement projects with the highest, most immediate priority given to items with safety concerns or those with Americans with Disabilities Act compliance issues.

The study findings and priority lists will be available to the North Tama board as a tool to help guide the school’s long term facilities strategic planning efforts.
