Toenges elected VP to state school admin association

Jason Toenges, principal of Union High School, has been elected vice president of School Administrators of Iowa and will begin his term September 1, 2021.

Responsibilities of SAI elected officers include actively promoting and delivering on the association’s mission of developing Iowa’s educational leaders and learners.

With his candidacy, Toenges stated goals for the organization to continue supporting school leaders through high-quality professional learning opportunities, strong public policy advocacy, and creating additional opportunities for collaboration and collegial support. He has held roles with the association as the secondary principal representative on the Executive Committee and as a member of the Legislative Committee.

Serving as Union principal since 2019, he was previously an elementary and high school principal at MMCRU Community School District. His career in education began as a social studies teacher.

Toenges has earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Iowa, a master’s in educational leadership from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and his superintendent certification from the University of Northern Iowa.

SAI, a statewide organization founded in 1987, represents more than 2,000 Iowa educational administrators. SAI’s mission is to support, encourage and develop Iowa’s educational leaders and learners.
