Area schedule for Memorial Day

Veterans organizations in Traer, Dysart and Clutier will be out and about during the Memorial Day holiday with rememberance services at a number of area cemeteries.

The American Legion post in Traer will not be holding their traditional Memorial Day program at the Memorial Building this year. Services will be held Sunday morning May 30 at local cemeteries with the following schedule:

West Union Cemetery at 8:45, St. Paul Cemetery at 9:00, Blessing Cemetery at 10:00, Geneseo Cemetery at 10:30, Spencer Cemetery at 10:40, Buckingham Cemetery at 11:00 and following the Buckingham Cemetery service a poppy wreath ceremony at Wolf Creek.

The Dysart American Legion will begin Memorial Day services at 9 a.m. on May 31 at rural outlying cemeteries. The band will play near the Dysart Fire Station and a service will be held at the Dysart Cemetery at 11 a.m.

In Clutier, the American Legion will coordinate services to four area cemeteries.

On May 31 the Legion will begin the morning with a flag raising ceremony at 8:30 at the Clutier Legion Hall.

Following the flag raising the group will proceed to Clutier Cemetery at 8:45, Oneida Cemetery at 9:00, Holy Trinity Cemetery and 9:15 and St. Wenceslaus Cemetery at 9:45.
