Investigation into Ryan Cooper’s death continues

The investigation continues into the violent death of Ryan Cooper, 42, which took place on Friday, June 18, 2021 at his residence in rural Traer.

As of publication, there have been no arrests made in the case and no new developments to report according to Iowa DCI Special Agent Richard Rahn.

“We don’t have anything new to report at this point in time,” Rahn told the North Tama Telegraph on Friday, October 1.

“We continue to run out any leads and continue to collect as much evidence as we can.”

Ryan Cooper was found dead in his home seven miles southwest of Traer following a 911 call made at 4:35 a.m. the morning of June 18.

On June 19, the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner announced Cooper’s autopsy was complete with the pathologist ruling the cause of death to be homicide and the manner of death to be a gunshot wound.

“As with any homicide,” Rahn said, “we continue to have calls and tips come in.”
