Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a sewing day on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the Clutier post home. The following six members were present: Collette W, Pauline S, Linda D, Marilyn S, Diane C, and Veronica P. Linda sewed material strips which IVH will weave into rugs. Marilyn and Veronica trimmed and rolled the strips into balls. Marilyn put away the Christmas tree for the season. Pauline and Collette readied lap quilts for finishing. They cut fill and backing to the size of the quilt and pinned together. Later they will be tied and edges finished. Still have 6” blocks that will be made into 45″ by 60” lap quilts. It takes 80 6″ square blocks for one quilt. Have lots of grocery plastic bags to be cut into strips, joined, and balled for crocheting into sleep mats.

Enjoyed noon lunch of soup, salad, and dessert. Monthly meeting was conducted by President Veronica beginning after lunch cleanup. Veronica called the roll and read December minutes which was approved as read.

Treasurer Diane reported our unit’s finances. Diane did a gravesite memorial for Margaret Wauters. We currently have 49 members. Bev reported that our unit’s girl state representative will be Courtney Chambers. Received thank you from South Tama County Food Pantry for our monetary donation.

The Group signed birthday cards for Vera S. and Eileen H. Thinking of you cards for Marlus S. and Julia B. Our next get together will be a sewing day on February 1st beginning at 9am with potluck at noon and monthly meeting after lunch. Sure would like to see new faces on our sewing day. If you’ve been inside due to the pandemic or weather, this is an opportunity to enjoy fellowship.

The Tama County joint meeting will be March 22nd at 7pm at the Clutier post home. Linda made a motion to adjourn.
