Traer Museum to hold inaugural volunteer meeting

Meeting rescheduled for Feb. 6

The Traer Historical Museum now looks spiffy and new with a renovated facade. Above, the new sign that adorns the museum. Below, the awning was also refabricated, tinted windows were added and a fresh coast of paint was applied to give the museum a great new look.

The inaugural meeting for the Traer Historical Museum Volunteers that was to have been held on January 14, 2022, has been rescheduled for Sunday, February 6, 2022, at 6:00 pm.

Those interested in a bowl of soup prior to the meeting can come early at 5:30 p.m. for a social time to visit with fellow attendees. Bring ideas or requests that you would like to see displayed at the museum. We’re also looking for volunteers to host the museum so that the museum can be open for more hours.

We encourage all who are interested to attend the inaugural meeting. If you have children there will be a video available nearby to watch during the anticipated hour-long meeting.

Volunteer meetings are a chance to become more familiar with the museum and learn about projects in the works. The military display is being updated and changes will be available to see. It is hoped that a tour guide of some kind can be developed to help those who would like to share information with visitors.

The biggest asset is a love of the northern Tama community and a willingness to share your knowledge of the area.
