Farmland Leasing meeting to be held August 3 in Toledo

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will hold a farmland leasing meeting for landowners and tenants on Wednesday, August 3, at 1:00 p.m. at the Tama County Extension office located at 203 W. High Street in Toledo.

Meetings are two hours long and will cover a variety of subtopics including farmland ownership and tenure; cover crop research and methods to implement in leasing agreements; current cash rental rate and land value survey results; methods for determining fair rents; legal aspects of farmland leases, including strategies for writing and terminating a farm lease; understanding flexible cash rent with crop economic uncertainty; improving tenant and landowner communications; ISU Extension web-based resources; carbon credit update; agriculture market update.

Register by calling the county extension office at 641-484-2703, at least two business days before the meeting. Registration is $20 per individual or $30 per couple and includes a 100-page Farmland Leasing Arrangements book.
