North Tama alum Kevin Wood to perform cabaret show Aug. 11 at Traer library

Traer native, Kevin Wood, will perform a cabaret-style show, “Home, Sweet Home!” at the Traer Public Library’s Kupka Cultural Center on Thursday, August 11, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The art of cabaret is built on a more intimate performance style; connecting directly with the audience through song and story-telling. Wood performs nationally including recent shows in NYC, Chicago, Palm Springs, and Boston. Upcoming dates include Ft. Lauderdale.

After living and performing in NYC, Wood relocated to Chicago and has called Chitown home for over 30 years and has had a music career that includes performances of operatic, musical theater and art song repertoire. He has also worked as a full-time parish church musician as well as a music teacher and private voice instructor and accompanist in Chicagoland.

Wood is a graduate of North Tama as well as Luther College (Decorah) and the University of Illinois (Urbana, IL).

Bruce Perry, a fellow Luther alum, will join Wood at the piano. Perry maintains an active musical schedule as a studio teacher, conductor, and performer. He serves as worship and music coordinator for Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge and is active in Iowa Choral Directors Association. As a pianist, Perry has performed throughout the Midwest and in Brazil.

Perry holds degrees in piano and vocal performance from Luther College and the University of Iowa.

Tickets are not required for this performance; however free-will donations to help support the library will be gratefully accepted.
