Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a sewing day on Tuesday, October 4 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Members attending were Mary S, Diane C, Pauline S, Veronica P, and Collette W. Special helpers were Deb K, Mary B, Rosemary V, and Cyndy B. Plastic grocery bags were cut and joined for crocheting into sleep mats. Diane had brought a sleep mat that she is presently crocheting to show the group what the grocery bags make. Six-inch squares were sewed together for lap quilts. Delicious potluck lunch and fellowship was enjoyed at noon.

Monthly meeting held in the afternoon was conducted by President Veronica. She called the roll and read August minutes. Treasurer Diane reported on our finances. A bill was presented by Veronica for the cost of printing and mailing bake sale letters. A motion was made by Mary and seconded by Pauline to pay the bill.

Members serving Jean Miller’s funeral lunch were Pauline S, Linda D, and Diane C. Helping serve at Evelyn Caloud’s funeral lunch were Linda D. and Bev C.

Cards were signed by those present and sent to Linda D. and Marlus S.

Price list for items for the bake sale Oct 16 were reviewed. Oct 22 is the 3rd district conference in Reinbeck. Oct 25th the Tama County joint meeting in Elberon at 7:00 p.m. Memorial service will be held for deceased Legion and Auxiliary members from the past year. On November 1 we will have a sewing day beginning at 9:00 a.m., potluck at noon, and monthly meeting after lunch. As before anyone is most welcome to come enjoy fellowship, potluck and assist with different projects.
